I need a Mac driver for a canon mvx200 mini dv cam?
I need to get a movie off a canon mvx2000 mini dv camcorder and can’t find a driver anywhere. I have been to Canon and Mac websites and searched the web all day. All I can find is updates. This is driving me nuts. Please help.
When you get bored of that, go get either a 4-pin to 6-pin or 4-pin to 9-pin firewire cable and connect the camcorder’s DV port to the Mac’s firewire port. Since you did not tell us which Mac, that is about as much help as we can provide… USB won’t work.
You won’t need any drivers. iMovie and FinalCut will not recognize DV/HDV coming in USB – only coming in via firewire. When the camcorder’s DV port is connected to the Mac’s FireWire port, and the camcorder is in Play or VCR mode, launch iMovie or FinalCut, name the project, select the file storage destination, select the video type (DV or widescreen DV, depending on what you captured on the miniDV tape) and import the video.
Firewire, IEEE1394, DV and i.LINK are all the same thing. USB-firewire converter/adapters will not work.
Nearly all Macs made in the last 10 years have some sort of firewire port – The ONLY exceptions are the MacBook Air and the most recently released MacBooks… they have no firewire port.
